Bird World In The Bird Park Palembang

Yellooo... The People in the world!!! Welcome to My blog again. So, last week me and my girlfriend went to Palembang Bird Park. And we are very happy because there are so many new animals that we meet that we have never seen before.

The ticket price system at Palembang Bird Park is averaged for weekdays and holidays where visitors are charged an entrance ticket of IDR 50,000 per person. Meanwhile, children under the age of 2 years and seniors over 60 years are exempt from purchasing tickets.

The price also includes feed for certain animals. Visitors will be directed by officers about the procedure for exchanging tickets with animal feed when entering the park environment. Palembang Bird Park operates every day from 08:00 WIB to 18:00 WIB.

Before entering the park environment, visitors are required to comply with health protocols to prevent the spread of the Covid-19 virus, such as wearing masks, hand sanitizers and measuring body temperature.

It's Me :)

The Palembang Bird Park is located in the OPI Mall Jakabaring Palembang area, not far from OPI Water Fun Jakabaring. This is a bird park where it provides more than 100 species of birds, such as parakeets, starlings, parrots, canaries, zebras, and other types. This tour is suitable as a family choice, especially for children.

Besides birds, there are also various other animals such as turtles, iguanas, rabbits, kate chickens, and guinea pigs, horses, and snakes. Visitors can also feed and for children can ride horses.

On this occasion, I will explain about 5 birds which are my favorite birds. So, Check this out!

1. Gold & Blue Macaw (Ara Ararauna)

The blue and gold macaw is a large parrot with aqua blue feathers on the back and yellow feathers covering the underside. The feathers on the top of the head are green. Blue and gold macaws are herbivores. They eat a variety of plants, fruits, berries, seeds and nuts.

Their large beaks allow them to crack seeds and nuts that are inaccessible to other birds. Its body length is between 76-86cm (30-34in) and its wingspan is 1.1m (3.6 ft). Their weight varies from 0.9-1.3kg (2-3lbs).

The blue and gold macaw is one of 17 species of macaws. The blue and gold macaw is a popular pet species worldwide.

This macaw bird is also a bird that is practically tame and practically follows the conditions in the environment with various situations. for macaw cages at least have a width of approximately 1.5 meters and a height of 2 meters. This is also the minimum cage size for a large macaw. The macaw cage can be equipped with a footing for the macaw from non-gummy logs.

To keep macaws, food should be considered. The type of feed for them is relatively easy. Because macaws like to eat fruits and seeds. But you should not give avocado or chocolate Cleanliness of food and drinks is also important for you to pay attention to in maintaining the health of this macaw bird.

2. African Grey Parrot (Psittacus erithacus)

As the name suggests, the African gray is a medium-sized parrot with a speckled gray color. It has a large black beak and a white mask that covers its yellow eyes, and has a striking red eyelet and tail. The female has a pale gray crown with dark gray edges, a gray body, and red tail feathers. Males look similar to females, but get darker with age. The size of this bird is about 33 cm (13.2 inches) and weighs about 400 grams (14 ounces).

There's a reason the African gray is often considered a poster bird for parrot intelligence because not only does it tend to accumulate a lot of vocabulary, it also exhibits a talent for recognizing the meaning of words and phrases. African gray parrots are more prone to vitamin-A/beta-carotene deficiency, and therefore benefit from eating vegetables high in beta-carotene, such as cooked sweet potatoes and fresh kale. Vitamin D deficiency is another problem, especially for gray hair with a poor diet.

For the most part, these birds are fruit eaters, meaning that most of their diet consists of fruit. Their main food sources are fruits, nuts, and seeds, but they are also known to eat tree bark, flowers, insects, and snails.

In human care, African gray parrots can be provided with a pelleted diet that is supplemented with fresh fruits and vegetables. They are commonly fed sunflower seeds, pears, oranges, apples, carrots, pomegranates, bananas, cucumbers, peas, celery, and more. It is important to make sure they have a calcium source as well.

Stagnant birds can become overweight, so they should have plenty of time for play and exercise outside of their cages. This is also important for the bird's mental health, and poorly-stimulated birds can become sick, cause destruction, and become boosterous and loud.

3. Rhinoceros Hornbill (Buceros Rhinocerus)

The rhinoceros hornbill has black body, head, back, wings and breast. White abdomen and thighs. Tail is also white with wide black band across the middle.

This is a large bird with body length of 80-90 cm. Beak yellow and red at the base. Large casque of similar color on upper mandible, shaped like an upturned cylinder. Adult male can be identified from the black on its casque and red iris. Adult female has bluish white iris and casque lacking any black coloration.

Rhinoceros hornbills often forage on fruit trees, hunt small vertebrates and large arthropods (invertebrates with segmented bodies). Figs and other high-lipid fruits are favored items. In addition, these birds also eat lizards, tree frogs, bird eggs, spiders, and large insects including beetles and crickets.

4. Black Crow (Corvus Capensis)

The black crow have black-colored feathers, commonly with an iridescent shine to them. Some crowd species also have other colors, like white patches, on their feathers. They measure 40–53 cm (16–21 in) in length, of which the tail makes up about 40%. Crows also have relatively thick beaks, known as “bills". These seemingly mundane birds are actually incredibly smart and charismatic. Crows are some of the smartest birds in the world.

Crow are omnivores, which means that they will eat both plants and animals. They are scavengers as well as predators, and will eat virtually anything they can find. They will hunt small animals like rats and mice, smaller birds, reptiles, and eggs. They will also feed on carrion and hassle other animals away from their kills.

In zoos, crows are provided with plenty of flight space in their enclosures, with a variety of perches. They are also provided with environmental enrichment in the form of toys, puzzle feeders, and perch variation. Crows are extremely trainable, and because they are so intelligent it is advisable to do some type of training with them to keep them mentally stimulated. Their diet is extremely varied in the wild, so in zoos they are provided with a wide variety of foods.

5. Black Palm Cockatoo (Probosciger Aterrimus)

Black palm cockatoos are recognisable by the prominent crests and curved bills. Their plumage is generally less colourful than that of other parrots, being mainly white, grey or black and often with coloured features in the crest, cheeks or tail.

Black palm cockatoos are the largest of all parrots, ranging from 49 to 68 cm in height. They weigh 500 to 1100 g, with females ranging from 500 to 950 g and males ranging from 540 to 1100 g. Wing length is around 35.1 cm, tail length 23.8 cm, bill length 9.1 cm, and tarsus length averages 3.5 cm.

The black palm cockatoo  requires a large enough cage to accommodate flight and play. The cage should be at least 10 feet long, 6 feet wide, and 6 feet high. If you cannot accommodate a cage this size or an aviary, it is best to consider one of the smaller cockatoo species.

In the wild, black palm cockatoos often feed in the early morning hours. Its native diet is palm fruit, nuts from the kanari tree (Java almond), stringy eucalyptus tree bark, and tree seeds.

Those are some types of birds that I took at the Palembang bird park. Of all the types of birds found in the Palembang bird park, these 5 birds are my favorite birds because these birds have a special beauty that other birds don't have. However, of the 5 birds, my favorite is the black crow. Because these birds have characteristics and interesting facts. In your opinion, what bird is your favorite bird of the 5 types of birds that I have described. Write in the Comments below๐Ÿ‘‡๐Ÿ‘‡๐Ÿ‘‡
